On behalf of The International Union of Police Associations, AFL-CIO, I am proud to join the Fairfax Coalition of Police and the Fairfax Deputy Sheriffs Coalition in endorsing your campaign to become the Governor of the Great State of Virginia. As you know, the I.U.P.A. represents active duty rank and file law enforcement and emergency medical personnel across the country as well as in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Our endorsement is based upon your years of service to both the Commonwealth of Virginia and the men and women who provide for public safety. While politicians everywhere like to wrap themselves in the mantle of public safety, many are not willing to stand and demonstrate that support with their votes on tough issues. You have always been beside us in actions that punctuate your rhetoric. You wrote Megan’s Law that provided public access to the state’s sexual offender registry. You also sponsored the Amber Alert program to protect our children.

I know that your experience growing up as the son of a police officer as well as your years as a prosecutor have given you a rare and unique insight into the needs and challenges of the law enforcement community. This empathy and perspective, coupled with your unquestioned integrity and judgment have marked your path while serving as both a Delegate and a State Senator.
